Grim, Jakub ; Kubát, Michal (advisor) ; Váška, Jan (referee)
8 The thesis, utilizing qualitative content analysis, examines five Slovak political parties and movements within the European People's Party (EPP). The analytical part, employing a comparative method, juxtaposes the EPP program with those of KDH, SDKÚ-DS, SMK- MKS, Most-Híd, and OĽaNO. The aim is to determine whether their inclusion in the EPP aligns with their respective programs. The concept of party families is also employed in the thesis, as the EPP represents the Christian Democratic party family in the European Parliament.
Comparison of Czech and Slovak Personal Parties
Malý, Michal ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
This thesis deals with one of the phenomena of the personalization of politics, personal parties. Personnel parties are not particularly scrutinized in current political science discourse. However, it can be assumed that the phenomenon of personalization will increasingly permeate the political environment. Therefore, the goal of this work is to fill this empty gap and analyze selected Czech and Slovak personnel parties in a mutual comparison. The choice of countries is by no means random. The Czech and Slovak Republics were still one country until 1992, so it will be interesting to see if the parties in both countries develop differently. The ANO and SPD movements will be analyzed from the Czech sides, and the SME RODINA and OLANO movements from the Slovak sides. The movement was chosen because it has successfully passed at least two elections and is still active in the parliament of both countries. Movements will be explored from different perspectives. The first perspective will be the position of leader within the party, where a strong to dominant position is assumed. In the second part, the analysis will focus on the stability of the parties from the external and internal parts, and the last part will examine whether there is a fixed programmatic position for the personnel parties. The goal of...
The comparison of political parties OĽaNO and PS/Spolu and their participation in the Slovak elections 2020
Švaňa, Lukáš ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Guasti, Petra (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the OĽaNO party and the coalition of the PS/Spolu. The comparison is done with regard to their origin, development, organizational structure, ideology, program, electorate, and their election campaigns in the 2020 elections to the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The aim of the thesis is to determine similarities and differences, to compare their approaches to the election campaign on the basis of two case studies of the examined political entities. The PS/Spolu, was highly favoured by voters at the beginning of the campaign. On the other hand, the OĽaNO was almost unheard of at the beginning of the campaign. However, the election turned out in a way that the OĽaNO surprisingly became the winner of the election 2020, while the percentage gain of the PS/Spolu was insufficient for parliamentary membership. From an organizational point of view, the parties are very different. In terms of ideology, they find several similarities, but there are more differences between them. This thesis also highlights the strengths and weaknesses of campaigns of both political entities. An important role in this campaign was played in the end of the campaign, when the OĽaNO offered the agenda wanted by voters, while the PS/Spolu has concentrated its forces elsewhere.
